Amelia Stewart

Amelia specialises in supporting the public sector to develop their economic strategies. Amelia is particularly interested in the role housing can play in boosting opportunity, economic growth and wellbeing.

Amelia comes from a policy background, having worked in three different think tanks. At the cross-party think tank Demos, Amelia examined how regional differences affect financial vulnerabilities and learned to use public engagement – such as focus groups, polling and interviews – to ensure that policies are shaped by the people they most affect. After Demos, Amelia worked in public spending at HM Treasury, so she brings a strong understanding of how government makes spending decisions and how different departments work together. Amelia recently finished a Master of Science in Social Policy where she specialised in housing and urban development policy. There, she learned from international best practice how cities have funded investment into climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Amelia has authored several think tank policy reports, including Job Creators, looking at the role immigrants play in UK entrepreneurship, and The Double Whammy, mapping the UK’s personal debt crisis. At HM Treasury, Amelia focused on improving cross-departmental working to make public services more preventative and reviewed cross-cutting business cases. At PRD, Amelia is currently working on developing a cost of living tracker in London and analysing its implications.
